Breast Implant Illness

If it weren't for the other women before me sharing their stories, I wouldn't have known about Breast Implant Illness, also known as BII. Because of these brave women, I feel like it is my duty to share my own story in hopes that I can help others connect the dots for themselves.

I decided to get my implants back in January of 2010. With my plastic surgeon's guidance and his state of the art 4D renderings, we decided upon the brand new Allergan Natrelle 410 Breast Implant. This implant has a textured silicone surface and then silicone that is the consistency of a gummy bear on the inside, giving them the cute nickname that they have come to be known by. I was informed that in order to get these new and safe implants that I would have to be enrolled in to a study. He explained to me that these implants had already been on the market in Europe for years but it took longer to get approved in the United States because of the FDA's processes.
